Worldcat vs. the World
I sort of feel bad for the OCLC, they are in an unwinnable PR hole at the moment. Their new record use policy has drawn an awful lot of ire online, including from me, and most recently from Stefano Mazzocchi (via Michael Stephens via Jessamyn West). Those of us who hate the idea of them locking down the rights to records created by its member libraries have been very vocal, everyone else is just ambivalent toward the whole thing.
So, everyone read Stafano’s piece and take notice of what’s being done, supposedly on our behalf, and then speak up.
