Review: Pocket Full of Rain and Other Stories

I don’t generally like miscellanies.  So there are extremely few people out there who I would pick one up by in the first place.  Jason is at the top of that list, and Pocket Full of Rain makes another great addition to his cannon.

The book collects Jason’s earliest stories, in which he hasn’t settled on his ultimate style.  But it’s amazing to see how assured he comes across even in these comics, and how quickly he settles into the deadpan humor infused morality plays he’s best at.

This is an excellent collection, but is probably just for Jason completists, of which there should be more.  For newcomers I’d stick with some of his better known books such Hey Wait or the Left Bank Gang.
